Result of Tongatapu District Soroban Competition 2018

28th August, 2018 The three District Soroban Competition for Primary Schools in Tongatapu concluded on Thursday 23 August 2018, with the Western District Soroban Competition held at the Alai Pulotu Hall, Te’ekiu village.

Over a thousand soroban students competed each other in the competitions, and top students in each district were awarded prises in the Written examination, Oral examination and Flash examination for Class 3, 4 and 5.

The Embassy of Japan in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training have cohosted the soroban competitions since 2010, and every year the winner of the Class 5 Written Category in the National Competition is awarded an opportunity to visit Japan and participate in a soroban summer camp funded by the Japan International Soroban Diffusion Foundation.

The 2018 District Soroban Competition will be completed with the competition for Ha’apai school, on Thursday 6 September.

The competition has been a success with the support of the Tonga Soroban Education Association, JICA Tonga Office, and Japan International Soroban Diffusion Foundation.
