30th April 2019 The Office of the Ministry of MEIDECC in Vava’u hosted a six-day consultation with five districts in Vava’u which was held on Monday 08 to Saturday 13 of April 2019.
This consultation workshop was to introduce the new “Litter and Wastes Regulation 2016” and Acts on litter and waste to the people of Vava’u.
The Officer in Charge at MEIDECC’s office in Vava’u Ms. Lucy Fa’anunu said this consultation needs to show the audience how to manage waste, how it affects both environments and human lives and enforcing the regulations for a sustainable environment.

She noted that group work was conducted to close the consultation program. “This is to ensure that all participants have an understanding of the consultation topics and what the districts have contributed to safeguarding the clean and healthy environment in Vava’u and generations to come.”
Participating in the consultation were representatives from Waste Authority Limited, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Police, youth leaders, women’s group leaders, town officers, district officers, farmers, and fishermen.
