24th July 2019 Manila, Republic of the Philippines, Her Royal Highness Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka Tuku’aho presented her Letters of Credence as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Tonga to the Republic of the Philippines to His Excellency Mr. Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, at a special ceremony at the Presidential Palace (Malacanang Palace) in Manila.
Prior to the Presentation of Credentials Ceremony at the Malacanang Palace, Her Royal Highness paid formal respect and laid wreath at the Rizal Monument where the Military Band played both the Tonga and the Philippines National Anthems, Guard of Honour and gun salutes were accorded to Her Royal Highness.
During the Presentation of Credentials, Her Royal Highness conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Tupou VI to His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte and the best wishes of the Government and the People of Tonga to the Government and the people of the Philippines.
Her Royal Highness’s visit further strengthens the growing relationship with the Philippines, advancing Government to Government relations and to foster people to people exchanges. Tonga will continue to work closely with the Philippines bilaterally, multilaterally and strengthen the friendship between the two countries. During Her Royal Highness visit in the Philippines, she met with officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Office of the Tonga Honorary Consul in Manila, Investors, Tongan experts and diaspora in the Philippines and Tongan Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her Royal Highness was accompanied by Mr Curtis Tu’ihalangingie, Mrs Afuha’apai ‘Aho from the Tonga High Commission- Canberra and Ms Jan Catherine Sy from the Honorary Consul Office of Tonga in Manila.
