17th December, 2019 Kunming Dianchi Int’l Convention & Exhibition Centre has 23 modernised exhibition halls covering the indoor exhibition area of 300,000 square metres held the Opening Ceremony of China International Travel Mart 2019 (CITM2019) and the Closing Ceremony of China -Pacific Tourism Year 2019 (CPTY2019) on the 15th – 17th November 2019.
Attended from the Government of Tonga were the Hon. Minister for Tourism, Mrs. ‘Akosita Havili – Lavulavu, Chief Executive Officer for Tourism, Mr. Sione Finau Moala-Mafi and other delegations from the Ministry.
The CITM2019 is to enhance the promotion of tourism, cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and the Pacific. The People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism commit to continue in collaboration with Pacific Island countries through China Pacific Tourism Year 2019 and other key tourism development initiatives in the Pacific region.
Tonga delegations continued to Xi’an on the 18th of November to meet and sign MOU on the 20th November 2019 between Ministry of Infrastructure, Kingdom of Tonga Government represented by its Honourable Minister, Mrs. ‘Akosita Havili-Lavulavu and AVIC XAC Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. – PR represented by Mr. Zhang Yong, Chief Customer Officer.
As arrived at the final destination Tonga Delegations were well received by the warm weather and tropical sites of Haikou on the 21st November 2019.
Hon. Minister for Tourism, Mrs. ‘Akosita Havili Lavulavu, His Excellency Mr. Tau’aika ‘Uta’atu, Ambassador of Tonga to China, Chief Executive Officer for Tourism, Mr. Sione Finau Moala-Mafi, and the rest of the Tonga delegations attended the morning Opening Ceremony of 2019 (4th) Hainan World Leisure Tourism Expo and 2019 (5th)Hainan International Tourism Food Expo. Both Expos were to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between Hainan and domestic & international MICE businesses.
And of the same day in the evening was the Opening Ceremony of the (20th) Hainan Island Carnival with the Opening Announcement by LIU Cigui, Secretary of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Director of the Hainan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee.
Hon. Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Tonga gave a speech at the Opening Ceremony by stressing … “the importance of being part of the celebration of the 20th years of Hainan International Cultural Festival – to share and dialogue on issues that are very important to us to strengthen world-class Cultural exchanges and Tourism development between the Kingdom of Tonga and Hainan Island City.”
