27th March 2020 In complying to Governtment regulations stipulated in the Communications Act 2015, Division 1 – Content Applications Services, Section 103 under National Emergeny, that; “during any period of national emergency, a licensee shall place its facilities that are used to provide content application services, free of charge, at the service of Government, and shall also supply competent persons to operate such facilities and provide content applications services”.
In light of the above, TCC and Digicel have revealed their relief packages to assist government & business operation and the people of Tonga during this global pandemic. Digicel and TCC’s relief packages includes free data, calls & sms, free of charge for selected COVID-19 information websites, prepaid and postpaid services, special overseas call rates to government, business community customers, students and individuals.
Being an essential service providers under the Emergency Telecom Cluster, their support are very crucial for the continuity of operation during this time of adversity to the government, businesses and to the nation as a whole and alleviate occurrence of unprecedented challenges.
We sincerely acknowledge the generous support of TCC and Digicel in ensuring government priorities are successfully maintained.
